Ice starting to retreat

The ice is starting to retreat on Broad Bay. The fist image is from the webcam and shows an image from this morning above an image from tonight. As you can see, there is a lot more open water on the webcam.

A light snow fell throughout the day at Ossipee Lake on Wednesday January 16, 2013. We ended up picking up about 3″ of new snow. I hope you enjoy the video.

Mt Shaw Webcam Down

I’m sure a lot of you have noticed the Mt Shaw webcam has been down for several days. I haven’t had any luck getting it fixed. Not sure what to do at this point. I may take the FeederCam down and use it in place of the broken cam. Please let me know your thoughts by replying to this post or on facebook.

Some of you may have noticed the for sale sign down on the beach. After living here for 25 years, and spending summers here before that, it is time to move on. I have really enjoyed living here on Ossipee Lake, but as they say, nothing lasts forever. High Water 6/4/2012

We received a little over 2.5″ of rain since Saturday hear on Broad Bay, with higher amount in the mountains, the lake is quickly rising. It looks like it will crest right around 410′. I visited the dam in Effingham, NH earlier this evening and took a few photos and shot some video. I also stopped by the public beach at Constitution Park at the mouth of the channel on the main lake.

Memorial Weekend 2012

Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer is only a few days away. Early forecasts are calling for a mostly sunny and warm holiday weekend. The lake temp at 3′ has been hanging in the upper 60′s. You can always find the current water temp and other current weather station conditions at Broad Bay on the left hand column of the weather page.

Ice Out Progress On 3/20/12

I recorded a little video from around the lake yesterday to show the progress of Ice Out 2012. These warm days are doing a number on the ice. Unfortunately the winds have been calm. Once the wind picks up I don’t think the ice will last long.

New Time Lapse Videos

I had tried using the time lapse feature on my two Sebec Tech webcams a couple years ago without much success. The biggest problem was that you had to wait a long time for the video to be downloaded on to your computer before you could watch it. Now that I have the YouTube page I thought I would give it a try.
