New Time Lapse Videos

I had tried using the time lapse feature on my two Sebec Tech webcams a couple years ago without much success. The biggest problem was that you had to wait a long time for the video to be downloaded on to your computer before you could watch it. Now that I have the YouTube page I thought I would give it a try.

Vintage Snowmobile Racing

Every Sunday morning at 10AM Sunny Villa hosts a vintage snowmobile race. For those of you that haven’t been, you really need to make an attempt to go watch. The event is free to the public and lasts a couple of hours. Here’s a few photos and a video from yesterday.

Snowy Day At The Lake

Light snow has fallen most of the day here on Broad Bay. I captured a little video of the snow. Listen carefully around 1:38 and you can here a woodpecker drumming in the background. At the end of the video I move the camera over to the bird feeders where several goldfinch are enjoying some sunflower seed. You’ll also catch a glimpse on Mr Cardinal toward the end of the video. Enjoy!

Here’s a short video I recorded this afternoon while running errands. I definitely need more practice shooting videos, it’s definitely not the same as shooting photographs. Hopefully I can improve after I get a chance to spend more time with it.

Three Bald Eagles

There certainly seems to be more and more Bald Eagles around the lake every year. Yesterday I noticed what appeared to be a young eagle out on the ice near the open water. By the time I got my camera out there were two. As I was taking a few snapshots a third eagle flew in. I watched them for close to an hour expecting them to dive in the open water in front of them for some food. They never did go in the water, they just stood on the ice.

Ice Update 12/20/11

There’s still a little ice left on the bay. But, there’s enough open water for a small flock of ducks to enjoy an afternoon swim.

Broad Bay was covered in skim ice this morning. We had our coldest night of the season with the weather station recording a low temperature of 7.4°. Only time will tell if it will remain frozen for the season.
